The European
Association Txoke! was founded in Biscay (Spanish Bask Country) at the end
of 2006. It gathers specialists (anthropologists, ethnologists, historians,
archivists and conservators of cultural heritage) of several European
countries (at this moment from Norway, Switzerland, France, Spain, Germany,
United Kingdom). These new members are joint by others from South America
(Chile, Argentine) and the Maghreb (Algeria, Marocco). They wish to join
their efforts in order to move original projects, predominantly observing
an transversal and international character. Its members wish to promote an
applied and ethic vision of anthropology and adjoint disciplines. This
professional international association owns the status of European
Association (EA) which, although not yet oficially voted by the European
Community, actually is being validated.
Txoke! proposes
to promote Europe-wide studies and activities related to the tangible and
intangible cultural heritage (especially oral patrimony, ethnomusicology,
memory of particular social groups), by an anthropologist´s point of view.
We do
foresee:
To promote and support research and
researchers in several terms (tecnical, hardware, courses etc.), providing
a scientific and technical support to individual persons as well as to
institutions related to cultural heritage like museums, sound archives and
general archives.
The adquisition and loan of hardware to
researchers being members of the association or who take part in projects
headed and supported by the association.
To promote the diffusion of the result of
research for scientific as well as for general audience (cultural
diffusion). These activities will be realized by courses and by providing
technical and scientific support and counsel.
We do pay special attention to the
sensibilization of researchers to the circle which guides the material and
data gathered to its archivation and conservation considering norms, being
followed by its diffusion. The same we do with the problems related with
sound and audiovisual archives, its digitalization, restauration and
conservation.
The mentioned
activities start from an applied vision, so to say, with the intention to
return the results of the scientific activities to the interested and to
the general population, all of it in a short term.
The association
is provided with a site Internet with own domain
(http://www.txoke.eu) and puts into disposition to the audience numerous resources, news and
results of research and actions moved by Txoxe! and its members,
newsletter online and in PDF, as well as articles and diverse materia.
